Clampett is the daughter of professional golfer Bobby Clampett.[1][2] She grew up in Cary, North Carolina,[3][4] where she was active in community theatre productions.[5] She attended St. David's School, a private Episcopal preparatory school in Raleigh. I started poking around at writing songs when I was 8, writing piano pieces. Then really started writing songs around sixteen, when I actually had things to write about (i.e. my parent&#;s divorce). It became a creative and therapeutic outlet for me at a time when I really needed one. There has never really been any doubt in my mind that this was what I was

When Katelyn was just two years old, Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers heard her singing in a grocery store and approached her parents in awe. Singing perfect harmony as a toddler was not so normal. Her “not so normal” talent continued through high school, earning her a Songwriting and Vocal scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music. At Berklee she went on to win several songwriting contests, her songs were performed at the Boston Symphony, and the Songwriting Faculty nominated her to work with Paul Simon.
