Heather Van Uxem Lewis

Heather is a New York/New Jersey based artist. Her self-portrait photography, performances, installations, paintings, and videos explore juxtapositions between words as concepts and the body. These images and experiences fuel her ongoing research in self-censorship and freedom of expression. She holds an Ed.M. in Art and Art Education and a Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University where she researched issues around art censorship, gender, and the media.
