Singer/Songwriter Eagle-Eye Cherry was born on May 7, in Skane, Sweden to the proud parents of Don and Moki Cherry. One day when Don was checking out his new son, Eagle-Eye looked at his dad with just one eye and that's how he got his name. At a young age, Eagle-Eye became involved in music, so involved, he bcame a drummer in his father's band. During the summer, Eagle-Eye and his half-sister Neneh Cherry would tour all around Europe with Don, attending many Jazz music Festivals. In , Eagle-Eye moved to New York City and attended the School of Performing Arts in hopes of becoming an actor. Succeeding in his dream, Eagle-Eye landed roles in many films such as "Born On The Fourth Of July", "The Doors", "Arthur 2:On the Rocks" and on "The Bill Cosby Show" twice as a drug dealer. In his mid-teens, Eagle-Eye abandonned his acting and became more and more interested in music being influenced by many popular musicians such as Marvin Gay, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and many more. After finishing school Eagle-Eye decided to escape the madness of the Big Apple and move back to Sweden with his model girlfriend Helena De Sandeburg. In , Eagle-Eye's father, Don Cherry,
“It didn’t feel like I exploded,” he says. “For me, taking every step into consideration, it was a slow build.” The irony of the album’s humble beginnings did not escape Cherry. “I had made a mellow album, thinking I could tour clubs with an acoustic trio,” he says, with a trace of awe still tangible. “I had no idea I would be playing huge radio shows or venues with over 20, in attendance.”
The release of Desireless sparked off two years of constant touring, performing, and promotion – pausing briefly to contribute a lead vocal to Sanatana’s enormously successful Supernatural album. This whirlwind of activity directly fed into the creation of Cherry’s sophomore project, Living in the Present Future (), which featured a duet with sister Neneh and production by industry titan Rick Rubin (Def Jam Records, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, Dixie Chicks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.). “I felt like it would be dangerous for me to take a break,” Cherry explains. “The final song I wrote for Desireless was ‘Save Tonight,’ and I could tell that my next album would be more uptempo, more optimistic.” Cherry immediately responded to Rubin’s insistence on quality material and preference for feel over t
