Summary Biography of HM Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk
Issued and distributed for free on the occasion of the Royal Funerary Ceremony of late King HM Sihanouk (Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh, according to His Majesty’s last honorific title in Khmer) at the initiative of Samdech Chaufea Veang HEKong Som Ol, Ministry of the Palace, this richly illustrated book develops the official biography by HEKuy Sophal published in and entitled ‘Preah Maha Viruk Ksat Ney Prachea (The Great Heroic King of the Nation)’. The text was submitted to several officials for approval, including Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen, receiving the warm approbation of HM King Norodom Sihamoni and his mother, HM Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, Queen Mother of Cambodia.
As for the pictures, they were sourced in Cambodian reviews and magazines published over the years, and the ‘Cambodge’ book published by the Ministry of Information — and completed with images from the King’s funerals and the national mourning. The English version was revised and edited by Ambassador Julio Jeldres.

Norodom Monineath Sihanouk (Khmer: នរោត្ដម មុនិនាថ សីហនុ, pronounced[nɔroːtɗɑm&#;mɔniːniət&#;səjhanuʔ]; born Paule Monique Izzi; 18 June ) is the Queen&#;Mother of Cambodia. She was Queen of Cambodia from to , as the wife of King Norodom&#;Sihanouk. She is the widow of King-Father Norodom Sihanouk, whom she married in as the "secondary consort" (Sihanouk married his official wife, Norodom Thavet Norleak, as the "first lady" also in , before being married to Monineath). After Sihanouk and Norleak divorced in , Monineath became the official spouse of the King.
Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and King Norodom Sihanouk had two children: Norodom&#;Sihamoni and Norodom&#;Narindrapong; both were born&#;before&#;their&#;parents&#;married. Her official, full title is "Samdech Preah Mahaksatrey Norodom Monineath Sihanouk" (Khmer: សម្តេចព្រះមហាក្សត្រី នរោត្តម មុនិនាថ សីហនុ). The Queen is also called "Preah Voreakreach Meada Cheat Khmer" (Khmer: ព្រះវររាជមាតាជាតិខ្មែរ, lit. "mother of the Khmer nation"). Her birthday on 18 June is an official public holiday in Cambodia.
